KBC lottery scam on WhatsApp.

KBC scam Alert! For WhatsApp users, be aware of the lottery scam.

Fraudsters are increasingly targeting WhatsApp, the instant messaging service. There is a new scam on WhatsApp that uses the name Kaun Banega Crorepati to defraud people, according to a report. Some scammers are said to be based in foreign countries and lure Indians by announcing a lottery worth Rs 25 lakh. The message informs users that they won Rs 25 lakh in a lucky draw.

If you have also received such a message, ignore it as it is fraudulent. Recently, a Malad, Mumbai resident fell victim to a fake KBC lottery message on WhatsApp. The scammer claimed to have a payout of Rs 25 lakh. According to Tarannum Raza, he had received an audio message from a person claiming to belong to KBC. She also received a poster message with pictures of Amitabh Bachchan, PM Narendra Modi, and RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani.

Raza, unaware of this fraudulent activity, contacted the phone number mentioned in the text message, believing that she would claim her prize. To be eligible to receive the prize, she had to pay a processing fee of Rs 25,000. Raza discovered that she had been duped for Rs 25,000 after the scammer asked her to pay Rs 45,000 more instead of transferring Rs 25 lakh into her bank account. As part of the recent episode of KBC, actor Amitabh Bachchan warned viewers that Sony TV does not ask for money for KBC and warned them to beware of anyone who asks for money.
